YogaNow Yoga Teachers

YogaNow is successful because of its quality teachers. The are all well trained and committed to providing you with a safe environment in which to learn and practice yoga.

Meta Hirschl, Founder

Founder of YogaNow in March 2001, Meta is an enthusiastic practitioner and teacher of yoga. After years of corporate work, university teaching and writing software books, she is delighted and honored to be teaching yoga. Having taken seven teacher trainings, she developed the YogaNow Teacher Training Program, to help others embrace the incredible power of yoga for themselves. In January 2010 her book, Vital Yoga:  A Sourcebook for Students and Teachers was published and has since garnered multiple awards (http://www.vitalyogathebook.com/home/awards/).  Her style of teaching is  influenced by John Friend’s Anusara approach, Vanda Scaravelli’s method, as well as Iyengar, Ashtanga and Deskacachar, but always includes the opportunity for transformation.  She is a Registered Yoga Teacher with the highest level, e-500 hours, from Yogaversity in yoga teaching and yoga therapy.  For Meta, yoga is everywhere, whatever she’s doing. And lately she’s been particularly drawn to the  Grand Canyon, the foothills of the Sandias and the great outdoors. And it’s all yoga.

Cypresse, PYT, E-RYT500, teaches Vinyasa and Yin styles of Yoga. She is a professional Yoga therapist at the highest level recognized with Integrative Yoga Therapy. She teaches groups, individuals and teachers the Yogic principles and practices that have illuminated her path. Cypresse is unendingly grateful to her many gifted teachers and the YogaNow community for their numerous offerings. “Hari Om Tat Sat Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu.”

Aparna

Aparna has been “living yoga” for lifetimes. In this reincarnation she has taught classes, courses and retreats all over India, New York and in Albuquerque. She is trained in various styles, mostly in the Krishnamacharya lineage, but her greatest joy lies in assisting people to build a practice oriented to their own individual bodies, goals and needs. If asked to describe her classes and style, she would say,”….a yoga class that allows you to wonder and explore, to observe and to test, to work and to play, to reconnect and to center, to find a sanctuary within in which to refresh, revitalize and rejuvenate. Discover what makes you thrive and experiment with new ways of being that bring you love, peace and joy. Celebrate being ALIVE.”

Mikiala

Over the past 15 years, Mikiala has found yoga to be the most powerful way to develop and maintain physical vitality, mental clarity and a joyful engagement with life.

Searching for a way to deepen her own practice and a desire to share the many benefits of yoga with others, Mikiala completed the teacher-training program at YogaWorks. Her Yoga classes, strongly influenced by the Iyengar style, generally feature gentle flowing sequences, attention to alignment, and an appreciation for community and connection.

Mikiala, feels it is a great honor to share yoga through teaching and is eternally grateful for the opportunity to serve, as well as for all the wonderful teachers and people who inspired her.

Sharla

Sharla first found yoga in a Bikram Yoga studio in Grapevine, TX where she practiced for three years.  She loved yoga from the first moment she began!  After relocating back to the Albuquerque area, she decided to become a certified Hatha Yoga instructor, and joined the 200 hour YogaNow Teacher Training Apprenticeship Program.  The program brought amazing changes to her life!

She has experience teaching Hatha yoga for all levels, yin yoga, chair yoga, partner yoga, yoga for youths, and yoga for weight loss.  Sharla focuses her practice and teaching around relieving mental and physical suffering, and studying the body and mind to discover the bliss and beautiful inner light that lies within each of us.  Yoga has brought so much joy and amazement to her life.  Her only wish is to share that precious gift with as many people as possible.

Michael

Aaron Michael’s passion for yoga began when he discovered the importance (and ecstacy) of linking breath with movement. After some serious yogic self-study, Mike enrolled in the RYT 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at Yoga Now. Upon receiving his 200 hour certification, Mike immediately began to prepare for the advanced 300 hour teacher training, and enrolled at YogaNow for a full 500 hour certification. As a lifelong musician, Mike brings aspects of sound vibration and traditional meditative instruments into the practice. His goals are to keep his classes fun, interesting, and eclectic, offering a unique learning experience for all levels and ages. Journey with Mike into flowing yogic movement, with playful yoga fun facts, and emerge feeling balanced and blissful.

Sukhino Bhavantu.”

Lori began her practice of yoga 5 years ago, and completed her 200 hour RYT through the Yoga Now apprenticeship program.  She has unbridled enthusiasm for the path of yoga and its capacity to meet every person exactly where they are today, while also offering unending challenges and opportunities for growth.  Lori facilitates with compassion and great respect for each individual’s own practice, and believes that the inner guide is always the best teacher.  She is committed to offering a supportive, safe, joyful venue for each practice to unfold.  Lori bows in deep gratitude to all beings for their inherent light and wisdom; may each discover the truth within.

Allegra

When Allegra went to her first yoga class while in college in North Carolina circa 2002, she was challenged beyond belief physically and emotionally. In 2003, she moved to Boulder, CO where she quickly discovered the benefits of a daily Ashtanga Yoga practice at Richard Freeman’s Yoga Workshop. The more she practiced, the smaller her challenges became which caused her confidence to rise and heightened her ability to go after her dreams.

She attendeded Naropa University, where she studied Contemplative Psychology of Health and Healing as well Yoga as a Traditional Eastern Art. While at Naropa, she had her first experience of teaching yoga in 2005. In 2008, she formally trained to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Larry Schultz in San Francisco and has been teaching ever since. She has continued her training, finding the playfulness of  Kids’ Yoga in 2009 with Gopala Amir Jaffe and the details of the Primary Series with Tim Miller in January 2011.

Allegra welcomes each student to her class to share in the appreciation of a fleeting moment, encouraging us all to listen to our bodies, challenge your edge, and find contentment wherever you are. Have fun, relax into the breath, and go with the flow. See you in class!

Emmie

It is a pleasure and a blessing for Emmie to teach and share Yoga.  She has been practicing Yoga for 12 years and teaching for 7.  Emmie received her initial teaching certification in the Kripalu tradition and has continued studying with many renowned teachers from a variety of lineages.  Her background in Ayurvedic medicine and massage therapy offers a therapeutic, balancing overtone to her classes.  Her teaching style emphasizes an organic, intuitive approach.  It is Emmie s experience that where the attention goes, the energy flows.   Hence, she encourages a contemplative practice with awareness of the breath as the primary tool to open, transform and connect body, mind and heart.

Joe

Joe Wolff has been practicing yoga since 2001. While he particularly enjoys teaching  Ashtanga-Vinyasa, he has experimented with, explored, and draws from a plethora of other schools of yoga. He is a graduate from Naropa University, where he studied poetry, Yoga, Buddhist psychology, and Sanskrit. He likes to mix insight and humor, to help the student notice and wake up to their current sensations, feelings, and perceptions. Though simply watching these patterns without trying to change it, he believes, that our minds, bodies, and lives within the world naturally unfold and deepen. He has completed “Teacher Trainings” with a diverse body of Ashtanga teachers, Tim Miller, Larry Schultz of It’s Yoga, and Richard Freeman. Through each teacher he has learned to approach the same practice somewhat differently. Joe is grateful for the opportunity to teach his passion at Yoga Now and learn something new from each student’s unique personality and constitution.
