Prajna Publishing
Vital Yoga is my humble offering to share what I’ve learned in developing and teaching a yoga teacher training program for over six years. I discovered that although there are tons of books out there on yoga, many were hard to understand if you didn’t already know a lot, or they were just more poses, more poses.
So I set out to create a way ‘in’ to yoga, the broad vast world. There are three sections: Before the Mat, On the Mat, Into the World. Each section has three chapters covering history, philosophy, great texts, sanskrit, chanting; then pranayama, meditation, poses; then yoga in the world, yoga therapy, teaching yoga. …and more.
The book is highly visual and created with love with the help of local photographers, artists, teachers. It has been an act of devotion for many, including my editor and book guru, Ellen Kleiner of Blessingway.
I knew when the vision unfolded that I would have to self-publish as I’d written, edited, developed books in the software instructional market and what I wanted to create was too visual, unusual and well, all encompassing for the traditional route.
So, I borrowed money on my house and created Prajna Publishing to publish this and other books and media meant to spread true knowledge, the bubbling up of curiosity with delight, my meaning of prajna. I figure I might as well bet on myself and my dream.
It is my fervent hope and dream that many will benefit from Vital Yoga: A Sourcebook for Students and Teachers.
