Free Yoga Classes to Support those Who Support

As a way to give back and support our local community, those who help others day in and day out in challenging situtations are invited to request free yoga passes to noon classes at YogaNow.

Staffers, providers and participants may attend noon classes as they are able.  These non-profits are currently coming to noon classes:

Crossroads for Women is a transition program for homeless women with co-occurring addictive and mental health disorders located in Albuquerque, NM. Crossroads for Women provides programming in the local jail and works closely with women reintegrating into the community after incarcerations.

New Day was thus founded in 1976 as a non-profit, community-based agency that was Albuquerque’s first and only runaway house. The objective of the program was to protect runaway and homeless youth, ranging from 11 to 17 years of age, in a residential setting with the ultimate goal of reuniting youth to their families, or locating a safe alternative.

In the years to follow, New Day developed many additional services at the request of our community to fulfill the needs of struggling, at-risk youth and families. Today, we continue to be here as responsive and responsible neighbors to do what is best for our youth and our community.

For over two decades, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) has served our community as the only health care organization in Central New Mexico dedicated exclusively to providing services to homeless people.  AHCH provides critical services to over 7,500 men, women and children every year.  By addressing the health-related causes of homelessness, AHCH makes it possible for people to find solutions to end their homelessness.

The Samaritan Counseling Center helps people in Central New Mexico find wholeness and healing through professional psychological counseling and education which integrate medical and spiritual resources. To accomplish this mission, the Samaritan Counseling Center provides a variety of services to people, businesses, not-for-profit organizations and congregations in central New Mexico.

Pegasus Legal Services for Children promotes, supports, and defends the rights of children to safe and stable homes, quality education and healthcare, and a voice in decisions that affect their lives.

We are a private non-profit agency providing civil legal services to children, youth, and their caregivers, including direct representation, community legal education, and policy advocacy.

If you are part of a local non-profit or know of one, let us know and we will try to offer yoga.  Please email or call us 505-232-4717 to discuss free yoga class for your organization, staff and clients.

  • Hi!! I would love to take your yoga classes for non-profits. I’ve never taken a yoga class, but am very interested in learning. However, I do have some limitations. One of them is time. Since I’m always running out trying to meet our donors, I’m not typically available around the noon hour. Do you have other times available? Also, I have 3 screws in my right ankle. I know that I may need some help with some poses (or even substitute with another pose). Is that something I discuss with the instructor?

    • Hello! From your email it looks like you are with Healthcare for the Homeless which is part of our program for free noon classes. You are most welcome with 3 screws in your ankle included! only noon classes at this time.
hope you make it to yoga.

    • did you receive my reply of a few weeks ago?
      namaste,
      Meta.

    • Hi Cynthia, How wonderful that you are part of healthcare for the homeless and you want to participate in the free noon yoga classes at YogaNow. I don’t think we’ve had anyone yet from hch so this is wonderful. If I understand your email you are asking two questions: can you come another time? no unfortunately the program is for noon classes, any class mon-fri, that’s five days a week! maybe you can find one of those noon times for you. the second question is about modifications for your ankle: that is no problem, just let the teacher know your limitations and they’ll help you find the safe pose.
i hope you come to yoga!
      namaste,

  • Hi Meta,
I work at the Samaritan Counseling Center and we found someone to do 6 weeks of yoga for us this fall and fell in love. We would like to do more, but the person we had is not available. I’m interested in knowing more about your class for nonprofits. We don’t need it to be free, we just wondered what the arrangements might be.
Also, I did Gentle Yoga with you at the Mountain Run studio several years ago. I am interested in a class for myself and I would love to talk with you about the best class for me. I am definitely a beginner, but feeling drawn to this practice and would like to find a good fit.
    Thanks so much,
    Sue Joiner

    • Hi Sue, Nice to hear from you again! I’m happy you’ve found more yoga and have continued with it! Let’s talk on the phone as you’ve asked a couple of questions – my cell is 232-4717 – give me a call when you can and we’ll discuss it all!
      namaste,
      Meta.
